Warkworth chapter:

The chapter runs a weekly group for 'Book Art’ in Warkworth at the Kowhai Art and Craft Centre. We mostly do our own projects, but share ideas and techniques to create new books. We do usually have a project day once a month. During the summer we make paper, use different techniques for decorating papers, paste papers, marbelling, decoupage etc. We hold a few workshops each year, invited tutors to teach us new things. We enjoy working with papers mostly, but do make mixed media book covers and enjoy 'Textile Art' also. They usually hold a Workshop for beginners once a year to encourage and teach new people Book Art.

The snake book Soft covered journal The Altered Book which was called 'Arabian Knights’ was made from the book 'Tales of the Arabian Knights’ so I took the theme for the altering. It was embellished with handmade copper paper, metal copper stained, old necklace and Sari silk |

Far North/ Northland Chapter:
Name: Kaye Neely 0257 247 8141 email: villagebooks1@gmail.com We are a very small group, currently based in Kerikeri, the Northland/Far North Chapter includes members from Whangarei and Kerikeri. We meet monthly in members’ homes with the host choosing a small project for that month. We share anything we have been working on and discuss any new ideas we have for future meetings. We have previously run workshops with invited tutors as well as tutoring our own and we hope to do more public workshops later in 2015 |
