HERITAGE STORAGE SEMINAR Tuesday 16 September 2025 10:15am - 3:45pm

The Association is bringing Chris Woods to New Zealand as one of the keynote speakers at the conference being held over the weekend of 12 - 14 September 2025. His paper Sustainable is simple - what is it we have forgotten is first up on Saturday morning, 12 Sep. Whilst in New Zealand Chris is offering a seminar called Overturning a Lifetime of Misunderstanding. This in-person one day seminar aims to help professionals understand how and why the sector has relied on engineering solutions hitherto, why these fail and do not provide what archival and library materials need and what we can do to change from wasteful, damaging and carbon-emitting methods towards sustainable and protective storage. You can book your place on this seminar here.
Chris is the current Director of the National Conservation Service, a UK based non-profit membership organisation for archives, libraries and museums without on-site conservation staff – see www.ncs.org.uk. He is also currently chair of the British Standards Institution's committee responsible for Conservation & Care of Archive and Library Collections and is active in Europe, having led the work to develop Specifications for Buildings, and Specifications for Managing Collections.
This is a rare opportunity to hear from a world-renowned expert on how we can continue to care for and protect our taonga in the best possible ways so they are available for future generations to cherish as we do.
